International Trade and Customs Conference
The International Trade and Customs Conference is generally held in March and is put on by the API International Trade & Customs (ITC) Committee. The program is designed to provide attendees with up-to-date information on what is happening among Customs and Border Protection and the Trade in the areas of drawback, FTZ, and importing/exporting. The two-day general session will address a wide variety of topics that will be presented by experts in the field of petroleum operations and customs laws and regulations. The Seminar also gives attendees an opportunity to meet informally with colleagues and other professionals from the trade and government.

Annual API Federal Tax Forum
For over six decades, API has been holding an annual tax conference to highlight various federal income tax issues of interest to the industry. The API Federal Tax Forum is held over two days every spring in Houston and is open to all members of the industry and private tax practitioners. API works with members of its various tax committees to identify pressing industry issues to be covered and then selects leading tax and accounting experts to serve as presenters. The Forum is scheduled so that a general session is held on the first day to cover items of wide interest to the participants and conducts breakout sessions on the second day to focus on particular international and domestic tax issues.

Annual State and Local Income and Franchise Taxation Forum
API’s Annual State and Local Income and Franchise Taxation (SLIFT) Forum is generally held in early February.  The Forum brings together state and local tax specialists from petroleum companies across the country. General sessions with speakers covering current events and topics of interest are held the first morning and the second afternoon. The remainder of the two-day forum is comprised of workshops where participants discuss compliance problems, audit experiences, litigation, and legislation developments in various state venues.  Receptions, luncheons, and dinner provide conferees with time to network and meet their peers.

Annual API Excise Tax Forum
API hosts an annual two-day excise tax forum which is attended by motor fuel excise tax practitioners. The forum is a combination of general sessions with formal presentations by speakers from Capitol Hill, Treasury, IRS, state tax administrators and industry on a variety of current federal motor fuel excise tax and sales and use tax issues, followed by smaller workshop sessions led by seasoned tax practitioners selected from our member companies and by state tax administrators.
