Through its Marine Committee, API serves as the premier organization for developing and advocating the oil and natural gas industry’s views on critical marine transportation and terminal issues.  Its responsibilities, focusing on federal legislation and regulation, stretch broadly from security issues to the environment to enhancing the public’s perception of the industry.

Modeling the Impacts of Marine Vessel Emissions to Ozone, Particulate Matter and Haze Along the West Coast
The regional air quality impacts of marine vessel emissions off the West Coast of North America were evaluated by performing annual photochemical grid modeling for a 2018 future year scenario. A major focus of this study was evaluating the marine sources as a function of distance from shore to better understand the relative contributions of close-in versus distant vessels.
