Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in mammalian toxicology, epidemiology or public health with 2 years of relevant experience if Ph.D., or 4 years of relevant experience if Masters Degree.
- A professional certification (or eligibility) and a working fluency in regulatory toxicology and risk assessment methodology strongly preferred.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet established deadlines.
- Experience and applied knowledge of the petrochemical industry is a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal health and environmental regulations and an orientation in public policy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team oriented environment, with a minimal amount of supervision.
Essential Functions:
- Staff assigned groups to assist their efforts to address important industry issues and facilitate their meetings and conference calls.
- Manage ongoing projects and supervise all budget coordination activities for assigned groups.
- Assist in the identification and prioritization of immediate and long-range research requirements.
- Conduct analyses of research finding and background documents and manage technical issues associated with developing responses to regulatory/legislative initiatives.
- Work closely with committee members and staff to provide technical and scientific support and recommendations in areas of assigned responsibility and technical expertise. Assure that research results are communicated effectively to the public, regulatory agencies, and other interested parties.
- Work with API staff to evaluate legislation and regulation and to determine the industry impact and response strategies.
- Prepare and present scientific presentations for API departments, the government and external organizations and contacts.
